Despite an early altercation with the chair umpire and a slight hip problem that necessitated some treatment in the first set, the so-called bad boy of Australian tennis swept through in less than two hours.
Kyrgios fired down 14 aces and hammered 43 winners in booking a second-round date on Thursday with Argentine Horacio Zeballos.
The 21-year-old from Canberra received a code violation in the first game of the match for aggressively hitting a ball but still stormed into a 4-0 lead before calling for the trainer to have the physio examine what appeared to be a hip injury.

He won the first set but then departed the court for a medical timeout.
Kyrgios seemed relatively unaffected by the ailment, though, and he returned to take the next two sets with ease to seal victory.
