The British world No.2 is aiming to end 2016 with more silverware following a sensational year which has seen him land Wimbledon and Olympic titles for a second time, as well as reaching the Australian and French Open finals.
Lukas Rosol, who famously knocked out Rafa Nadal at Wimbledon four years ago, had no answer to Murray as he made it five Britons through to round two after Dan Evans and Naomi Broady joined Johanna Konta and Kyle Edmund in the last 64 on Tuesday.

The quintet of survivors matched the best performance by British players at Flushing Meadows since 1987, when four women and one man made it through the first round.
Victory helped Murray set up a second-round encounter against Marcel Granollers of Spain.
Third seed Stan Wawrinka has historically struggled against Spain's Fernando Verdasco, but the fourth seed two-time Grand Slam winner, along with his colourful attire swept the left-hander aside in a 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 6-4 win.
On a day of epic five-setters, Steve Johnson produced one of the greatest comebacks of all. The American No.1 saved seven match points as he fought back from two sets and 5-2 down against Evgeny Donskoy to win a remarkable match 4-6 1-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 6-3.
Women's top seed Serena Williams couldn't have had a tougher first round opponent than Ekaterina Makarova but she allayed fears about her shoulder and her form, as she dismantled the big-hitting Russian, hitting 12 aces as she cruised through 6-3 6-3 while elder sister Venus had to fight all the way against Kateryna Kozlova toughing out a 6-2 5-7 6-4 win.

As well as wins for Andy Murray and Dan Evans, world No. 82 Naomi Broady earned only her second ever Grand Slam win with a gutsy 6-7 (4-7) 6-3 6-4 win over fellow Briton Laura Robson.
There was disappointment for Heather Watson, however, who suffered from a fever and back pain as she lost 6-2 7-5 to Dutch qualifier Richel Hogenkamp.

Stat of the day

Big-hitting Ivo Karlovic served his way into the US Open record books when he fired 61 aces in his 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 win over Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan.
Karlovic, 37, beat the previous best of 49 aces for one match in New York served up by Richard Krajicek in his quarter-final loss to Yevgeny Kafelnikov in 1999.
"I knew there were a lot of aces because there was a period (in the second set) when almost every serve was an ace. I knew there was a lot but I didn’t know it was this many," said 6ft 11in (2.11m) Karlovic.
