Eurosport experts Annabel Croft and Greg Rusedski both said Kyle Edmund can trouble world number one Novak Djokovic in their US Open fourth-round match in a live chat on Facebook.

Edmund’s progression has been one of the unexpected stories of Flushing Meadows and while Djokovic is the huge favourite, the number one hasn’t had much time on court so far, playing just six games in the past two rounds due to opponents’ injuries.
With Edmund possessing one particularly huge weapon, Croft says the 21-year-old could surprise some people when he takes to the court in the final match on Arthur Ashe tonight – live and exclusive on Eurosport.

“I actually think Kyle has a great shot to really trouble Novak Djokovic,” said Croft. “They met earlier this year and he was surprisingly competitive against the world number one.
“We are all wondering where Novak’s tennis is at because he has not played a lot of tennis, he is undercooked.
“What’s most impressive about Kyle is that he looks like he belongs and he looks like he feels like he belongs. He is taking his game to his opponents. And that forehand is thunderous – it’s one of the biggest shots we have ever seen on the tour.”
Rusedski, who joins Croft as a studio guest on Sunday’s broadcast, was more circumspect about Edmund’s chances but is also a big fan of that forehand.
“Maybe it’s a step too far for Kyle today,” said Rusedski. “He could possibly get one set – it’s most likely four sets for Djokovic.
“But Kyle has been playing great; the forehand has been sensational – the fastest forehand on the planet right now with an 83mph average.

“It’s going to be a great match.”
