Heather Watson eyes up maiden US Open win

British number one Heather Watson insists she has forgotten all about her Wimbledon clash with Serena Williams ahead of her US Open first round clash.

Watson will attempt to win her first US Open match when she plays Lauren Davis on court 17 at Flushing Meadows.

In her previous four visits to New York Watson – currently ranked 61st in the world – has failed to pick up a victory.

However, the 23-year-old did get to within two points of defeating eventual champion Williams at Wimbledon earlier this year – although Watson is only looking forward.

"You have to get the motivation back after such a big match on a big stage," Watson told BBC Sport.

"You've got to find that fire and that fight every single week, no matter how loud or quiet it is.

"Apart from the few days after the [Williams] match, I haven't thought about it at all really. I'm not looking back now, I'm looking ahead."
