Wimbledon 2015: Robson patient as comeback continues

The former British number one has been sidelined for 17 months and won just one game in her comeback match last week at Eastbourne.

She was more competitive against Evgeniya Rodina but still went down 6-4, 6-4.

However, the 21-year old - who has a protected world ranking of 58 for eight tournaments - claims she must be patient in the long road back to form.

"Compared to the match I played last week, this was infinitely better," she said. "I was the one hitting winners but I was also the one hitting unforced errors as well.

"We're going to be patient and we're going to train for another couple of weeks then play some smaller tournaments.

"I'm pretty confident that I have the ability to get back to where I was before, if not higher.

"It's going to be a long process to get there but I'm very excited that I have another chance to do it."

The Olympic mixed doubles silver medallist is now based in the USA and will focus her season now on the build-up to the US Open at Flushing Meadow.

And she admitted there were probably better tournaments to stage a comeback than under the public glare at Wimbledon - but insisted missing out was much worse than losing. "It was a no-brainer in my mind," she added.

"It's hard to say what you'd do in a different situation, but this is my favourite tournament of the year.

"I couldn't imagine not playing it, even though I would have liked to have played more matches. It's different when it's this tournament. You just treat it different to any other tournament."
