GAME, SET AND MATCH! - FEDERER 6-3 6-1 6-4 CILIC. He's done it! It's a record eighth men's Wimbledon title for Federer and a 19th Slam overall. The Swiss serves it out on his second match point with an ace down the middle T, overcoming a few signs of nerves to make history.

BREAK! - FEDERER 6-3 6-1 4-3 CILIC. Unforced errors off either flank undo Marin's good work as Federer secures the inevitable break. The fat lady is warming up in the inner sanctum of Centre Court...

FEDERER 6-3 6-1 2-3 CILIC. Marin keeping his nose in front with the scoreboard advantage. The pain-killers may have kicked in and given him some relief. He finds a timely ace to finish the game with aplomb.
FEDERER 6-3 6-1 2-2 CILIC. Federer is forced to exert himself on serve for the first time in a long while, but flies through two quick points after Cilic had made deuce from 40-15. It's already more competitive than Set 2, but Federer will still expect to finish this in the next 20 minutes or so.
FEDERER 6-3 6-1 1-2 CILIC. What a hold. That took real grit and determination from Marin. He's clearly struggling to find his game, but hits back from 0-30 before holding off a Fed charge to drag himself over the line after saving a couple of break points.
FEDERER 6-3 6-1 1-1 CILIC. Federer staying focused with all of the attention currently on his opponent. The Swiss eases through another simple hold for the loss of one point to level it up in Set 3.
FEDERER 6-3 6-1 0-1 CILIC. Centre Court loves Federer, but they want to see a competitive match. Some of the support shifts towards Cilic and after a medical time-out, he opens the third set with a vital hold to 15.

SET! - FEDERER 6-3 6-1 CILIC. That record eighth Wimbledon crown is looking inevitable now. He flashes an ace down the middle T to serve it out to love. Just one hour and one minute played and the Swiss is flying. Cilic in distress and the doctor is out to see him once again.
BREAK! - FEDERER 6-3 5-1 CILIC. It's a real rollercoaster for Cilic in every way possible at the moment. He comes under pressure from 40-15 up and is undone once more. Federer miscues a return wide on his first opportunity but gets it right to set up another opening, with Cilic volleying long of the baseline. Federer will now serve for the second-set breadstick.
FEDERER 6-3 4-1 CILIC. Federer with another simple hold to 15. Hard to tell what was wrong with Cilic. Emotional distress at a hidden injury? It will take something sensational for him to turn this around from here.
Great stat - let's hope it doesn't come to that.
FEDERER 6-3 3-1 CILIC. Marin is given a standing ovation as he returns to the court. He keeps the points as short as he can and shows a nice touch with a backhand volley to get on the board to 30.
The trainer is out talking to Cilic. Fingers crossed he can continue.
FEDERER 6-3 3-0 CILIC. Federer has slipped into cruise control. Cilic ends a run of three straight love holds for the Swiss, but it's just the one point as FedEx consolidates with ease... The players head to their chairs and Cilic is in tears. Something is wrong...
BREAK! - FEDERER 6-3 2-0 CILIC. This is running away from Cilic. He finally finds some aces, but continues to leak unforced errors. Two off the backhand put paid to his hopes of arresting his slump and Federer breaks again to take a real stranglehold on the match.
FEDERER 6-3 1-0 CILIC. Federer keen to take advantage of this period of real momentum. He rattles through a love hold as Cilic continues to toil.
SET! - FEDERER 6-3 CILIC. That could be a brutal dent in Cilic's confidence. He's pegged back from 30-0 as Federer goes in for the kill. The Swiss sees one set point denied, but doesn't have to do much from deuce as a forehand error wide of the tramlines and a double fault gift the No.3 seed the opener in 36 minutes. Cilic hasn't served an ace yet - he's got 130 in the tournament so far. Nerves? Or is Fed returning that well?
FEDERER 5-3 CILIC. The Cilic return-game has been magnificent in this tournament and it was causing issues early doors - but not so right now. Federer motors to another love hold and is one away from taking the set.
FEDERER 4-3 CILIC. An important response from Cilic. The wobbles kick in as a 40-0 lead swiftly disappears in the wake of a majestic dropshot from Fed and a double fault. He settles himself and finds the big serve when he needs it to stay in contention.

BREAK! - FEDERER 3-2 CILIC. A disaster for Marin. From break point on the Federer serve he loses six straight points to leave himself in deep trouble. Some impressive serving saves two but Federer turns up the squeeze on the third and the No.7 seed can only crack a weak backhand into the net. First blood FedEx.
FEDERER 2-2 CILIC. A moment Cilic may well look back on as he gets over-excited attacking a second serve and dumps a tight crosscourt backhand into the net on the first break point of the match. Federer is clearly feeling some heat on his serve, something not really seen at the tournament so far, but he does enough to wriggle free from deuce.
FEDERER 1-2 CILIC. Clever serving from Cilic sees him through a much more comfortable hold to 15. Real desire and determination on show at both ends of the court which are promising ingredients for a real cracker of a match.
FEDERER 1-1 CILIC. Some early signs that Cilic may cause Federer some real problems with a corking forehand winner. The Maestro responds with a sublime drive volley but a double fault takes it to deuce, before the Swiss follows Cilic's attempt down the line into the net with a big serve to move level.
FEDERER 0-1 CILIC. Federer's decision to receive first clearly showed his intention to attack and try to unsettle Cilic from the off. The Croatian is bound to have some nerves in his maiden Wimbledon final and a few tight moments put him in some early danger at 15-30. He finds the big serve and relies on some early rust form his opponent to get on the board from deuce. First hurdle navigated successfully by the Croatian.
Here we go, Cilic will serve first....
It's the world No.5 (Federer) against the world No.6 (Cilic). If the Swiss wins he'll move up to No.3. If Cilic triumphs he'll leapfrog Roger into fifth spot.
Cilic lost the toss - but Federer opted to receive first.
A great reception for both players - but no doubt Federer remains Centre Court's darling. Let the pre-match formalities commence!

Federer: "To have another chance to go for number eight now, to be so close now at this stage, is a great feeling." He added: "Eleven finals here, all these records, it's great. But it doesn't give me the title quite yet. That's why I came here this year. I'm so close now, so I've just got to stay focused."
Yesterday I was lucky to be on Centre Court as a spectator to witness Garbine Muguruza outshine five-time champion Venus Williams. Who will join the Spaniard at the Champions' dinner?
So, can Cilic be the party-pooper and halt Fed's bid for history? Or will the Swiss Maestro secure the victory pretty much everyone is expecting? Cilic: "Twelve months ago, I was one point away from winning a match here against him. Definitely I believe in my own abilities to get through and to win it. But I still know that it's a big mountain to climb. Roger is playing maybe some of his best tennis of his career at the moment, having a great season, so I know it's going to be a huge challenge. But I believe I'm ready."
Notably, Federer won their last meeting 12 months ago, when he came from two sets down to edge out the Croatian 6-7 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-3 in the last eight of Wimbledon.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: Federer leads the match-up 6-1. Cilic's only success came in the last four of the 2014 US Open when he won 6-3 6-4 6-4. He went on to lift the trophy.
