Angelique Kerber survives Pauline Parmentier scare to progress at Indian Wells

Unseeded Pauline Parmentier gave former world no.1 Angelique Kerber a scare on Monday in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.

After holding Kerber to a tie-break in the first set, which was ultimately won by the German after over an hour, Parmentier made six breaks to win the second 6-3.
Having gone 3-4 down in the third, Kerber staged a comeback to beat the Frenchwoman in the tie-break.
Kerber will now play Russian Elena Vesnina in the fourth round after the 14th seed beat Timea Babos 6-4 1-6 6-4.
