Le Mans 24hr race: Porsche lock out front row in first provisional qualifying

After claiming a 1-2 in practice, Porsche followed up by closing out the front row of the grid in provisional qualifying for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Neel Jani topped the time sheets with a lap of 3m19.733s and team-mate Timo Berhnard was just 0.4s behind in second, giving last year's winners pride of place.
Toyota's TS050s secured the second row through Stephane Sarrazin and Antony Davidson, who finished 1s and 1.1s off the pace respectively.

In the LMP2 class, G-Drive ORECA's Rene Rast claimed pole position. Meanwhile, Ford topped the timesheets in the GTE class with its four cars all qualifying in the top five.

Practice report

Porsche began the defence of their Le Mans 24 Hours crown with a 1-2 at practice.
Jani led Porsche home with a time of 3m22.011s on his penultimate lap to take the honours from team-mate Brendon Hartley who clocked 3:22.550.
