Michelisz hoping Spain brings Honda WTCC gains
Norbert Michelisz has completed a two-day test at Valencia in Spain as he and the factory Honda team rev up for the FIA World Touring Car Championship title run-in.
There are four events left in the most wide-open WTCC seasons for nearly a decade and Michelisz is one of seven drivers in the title mix on the back of recent wins in Portugal and Argentina, while Honda moved on top of Volvo Polestar in the battle of the makes during the trip to South America.
Michelisz’s test, which took place from 27-28 July, focused on car development and set-up for the season-closing races in China, Japan, Macau and Qatar.
“It's been a very productive couple of days in Spain,” said the Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team driver. “We haven't focused on one area of the car in particular, but looked at a few developments in several areas to make sure every part of the car is optimised for the final four rounds of the season. We're in a close battle for the Drivers' and Manufacturers' championships so anything we can do to increase our points totals at each round will be well worth it come the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, Ryo Michigami took over summer driving duties for a one-day test at Navarra yesterday (Monday).
