Michigami to build on strong home WTCC run
Ryo Michigami plans to build on his strong showing at his home event, last month’s WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan, when the FIA World Touring Car Championship returns to Macau from 16-19 November.
Although Michigami was unable to convert his career-high fifth fastest time in qualifying into a pair of solid race results, his pace rise at Twin Ring Motegi was evident.
“My first season in the WTCC and at Motegi I really wanted to show my best performances with a good result,” said the factory Honda driver. “I did my very best and I’m satisfied with what I did. Regarding the Main Race, I had trouble with the brakes and had to retire. That was unfortunate but I thank everyone and I’m happy to have raced here. I’m looking forward to the next races now.”
Michigami heads to Macau boosted by the fact he has some previous Macau experience to call on having raced on the street track during the Formula 3 races of the mid-1990s.
