The news that Spain have sacked Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup came as a MASSIVE shock.

But, it turns out agreeing to become the manager of another team, just three days before the World Cup, whilst still under contract is a sackable offence. Who knew?

Anyway, just one day before it all kicks off in Russia, Spain are without a head coach.

Will they give the job to Fernando Hierro and the other coaches who are currently with the squad? Or will the Spanish Football Federation make a big statement by bringing someone in either on a full-time basis or just for the duration of the World Cup, ahead of Friday’s first match against Portugal?

Well, there is one man who is currently without a job and there is lots of support for him to be drafted in…

The 2018 World Cup already promises to be a fantastic tournament, but wouldn’t it be just that little bit more exciting if Big Sam was standing on the touchline?

Please, Spanish Football Federation, make it happen!
