France's dominance of the combined event continued on Friday as Victor Muffat-Jeandet secured his first ever World Cup win.
The Frenchman improved from 27th after the downhill run in Wengen to take victory in a combined time of 2:35.29 minutes after a fine slalom.
That means that France have now won eight of the last 13 men's combined World Cup events but Muffat-Jeandet's compatriot Alexis Pinturault – winner of the previous combined this season – sat out to focus on Saturday's slalom.
Second on the day was Russia's Pavel Trikhichev - also a career-best finish – who improved from 29th after the downhill.
Vincent Kriechmayr of Austria was the leader after the first run but failed to finish the slalom so Peter Fill of Italy took third, 1.15 seconds down on the Frenchman while Norway's Kjetil Jansrud was fourth.
