Winter Olympics 2018: Women's slalom postponed due to bad weather - rescheduled for Friday

The women's slalom competition has been postponed due to bad weather conditions with poor visibility at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre.

The event has now been rescheduled for Friday.

It is the third time in the opening four days of competition that an Alpine skiing event at the Pyeongchang Olympics has been postponed due to the wind. However, IOC spokesman Mark Adams allayed fears over time restrictions, saying there was still "plenty" of time left in the schedule for all the Alpine events to be held:

If the wind continues to blow for then next 15 days it might be a problem but at present everything is ok. FIS (the International Ski Federation) is used to disruption, by wind, too much snow or too little snow.

American skier Mikaela Shiffrin will be hoping to defend the same title she won in Sochi four years ago, but has seen her schedule disrupted for the second time in the opening week following Sunday's postponement of the Giant Slalom.

Britain slalom skiers Alex Tilley and Charlie Guest will also go through the gates when the action gets underway on Friday.
