Mikaela Shiffrin claims she isn't unbeatable but the evidence to the contrary is starting to stack up after the alpine skiing star won her third World Cup event in eight days.
Having won the first two super-G World Cup races of her career last weekend in Lake Louise and on Saturday in St Moritz, she cruised to victory in the parallel slalom in the Swiss resort on Sunday.
Shiffrin posted the fastest time in the morning qualifying race and in the afternoon's head-to-head knockout contests she beat Laurence St-Germain in the round of 32, Mina Fuerst Holtmann in the last 16, Nina Haver-Loeseth in the quarter-finals and Katharina Liensberger in the semi-finals.
That set up a final against Slovakia's Petra Vlhova and although she trailed midway down the course after clipping a gate, the American came on strongly to triumph by 0.11 seconds for her 48th career World Cup win.
"I'm not unbeatable, no," Shiffrin told Swiss broadcaster RTS after the race. "I was so excited after (Saturday's win) it was a bit of a challenge to refocus.
"This event is a big fight because you're always next to somebody, and it's like 'Am I winning? Am I losing?'"
Triple Olympic medallist Wendy Holdener took bronze by beating Liensberger in the small final, while in the overall World Cup standings, Shiffrin now has more than double the points total of nearest rival Michelle Gisin.
