Ski news - Pinturault wins in Andorra to become most succesful French skier in World Cup history
Updated 16/03/2019 at 13:01 GMT
Alexis Pinturault produced two near-flawless runs to win the Giant Slalom in Soldeu.
The victory was Pinturault's 23rd in World Cup history, taking him clear of Carole Merle as the most successful French skier in World Cup history.
Near-perfect conditions in Andorra made for some high-quality skiing, with the Frenchman finishing 0.44 seconds ahead of young Swiss talent Marco Odermatt. Zan Kranjec was third.
Marcel Hirscher, who had already claimed the season title before proceedings began in Soldeu, finished in sixth before being presented with his Crystal Globe.
“It’s really cool to have this globe,” Hirscher said. “It’s surreal to have it for six years now.”
