Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won the super-G at Wengen on Friday for a great start to the weekend's competition in Switzerland, and he celebrated a second victory on Saturday when he triumphed in the downhill. After remarking on his victory that keeps him top of the leaderboard, he paid tribute to Swiss colleague Beat Feuz, who will retire after next weekend's races.

'It's working really well' - Kilde on his incredible form

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde won the downhill at Wengen on Saturday for his second victory of the weekend in Switzerland.
The Norwegian had already triumphed in the super-G on Friday and made it two from two against his in-form rival Marco Odermatt, who finished second.
The win is his second downhill victory in Wengen, coming courtesy of a time of 1:43.14, and Odermatt put down a time of 1:44.02.
Mattia Casse of Italy was able to secure third place on the podium, his first top-three finish since competing in Val Gardena in December last year, with a time of 1:44.15.
Kilde won the trophy for the discipline last year and looks well set to retain it after his fourth win in six runs this season. There are five remaining events for him to build on his 119-point lead over Odermatt, and if he continues to impress then he could reach Hermann Maier’s season record of 2000 points, set in 2000. He currently sits on 846 for the season so far.
Speaking after the race, the 30-year-old was pleased with his performance but said it was difficult to know just how well he had performed.
“I was really, I didn't know, because when you ski here in these conditions you never know if you bring the speed or not,” he began. "But I felt like I had quite good speed out of the tunnel and I knew, OK, I have a chance and if I come into the finish with green numbers, then it’s a good sign.
“It’s working really well with equipment, with my skiing right now is a great thing, and I keep on working on that and gain some confidence.
“I feel really confident here, I’ve done well here before, I know the downhill, not from the top but still it’s a real downhill.”

'Form of his life!' - Kilde wins yet again as he conquers downhill at Wengen

Switzerland’s 35-year-old veteran Beat Feuz secured fifth place, and will compete at Kitzbuhel next weekend for what will be his last two career events. Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr took fourth.
Kilde paid tribute to the outgoing Feuz, saying: “Honestly, it's emotional. I’ve been watching Feuz since I can remember, also having great battles with him last year and also this year.
“He's going to be missed. We’re losing one of the legends, for sure.”
