How the second morning's competition unfolded at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

13:00 - That's the end of the morning's action, with the big news from a British perspective that Jessica Ennis continues to lead the heptathlon with two events to go, despite a difficult long jump.
Great Britain's Goldie Sayers unfortunately just missed out with her best throw of 58.98 metres in the women's javelin throw. Greek thrower Savva Lika just pipped her to the next round with her throw of 59.64 metres.

12:28 - She's done it! Olga Kaniskina has made history becoming the first ever race walker to defend her world championship title with a time of 1:28:09. Olive Loughanne has picked up the silver medal at 1:28:58 whilst China's Hong Liu gets the bronze with a time of 1 hour 29 minutes and 10 seconds.
12:26 - 58 seconds separate Olga Kaniskina in first position and Olive Loughanne here in the final of the women's 20 kilometre race walk.The Russian is set to become the first ever athlete to win back to back world championships in this event as she looks to add that record to her Olympic title.
12:21 - Ireland's Olive Loughanne has pulled away from Hong Liu as she looks to cement her silver medal but the Chinese athlete is not letting her pull away too far.
12:19 - World champion Olga Kaniskina is only minutes away now as she is on the last lap. The Russian is smiling as she knows it's only a matter of time.
12:15 - Norwegian athlete Kjersti Platzer has been the latest athlete to be disqualified and that has brought her to tears as her dream is now over...
12:05 - China's Hong Liu and Ireland's Olive Loughanne are neck and neck as they compete for the silver and bronze medals with a little over 5 kilometres left to go. Meanwhile Spanish athlete Beatriz Pascual has dropped out with what looked like heat exhaustion.
12:00 - In the women's 20 kilometre race walk final the favourite Olga Kaniskina of Russia is well ahead from the rest of the pack...

11:40 - Lauryn Williams is the winner in heat 7 in the women's 100m first round running at 11.36 seconds.
11:36 - Germany's Julia Machtig jumps 6.36 metres after two no jumps now puuts her into sixth pushing Ennis down to seventh.
11:33 - Britain's Jessica Ennis jumps a much better 6.29 metres in the heptathlon long jump moving her into sixth position.

11:31 - Campbell-Brown with no problems as expected as she can now relax for a few hours before the next round begins.
11:28 - The sprinters are lining up for Heat 6 in the women's 100m sprint. Defending champion and Olympic gold medalist at the 100m and 200m Veronica Campbell-Brown is the favourite to win the gold medal.

11:07 - Jessica Ennis looks to be struggling in the long jump with her second jump only at 6.08 metres. She has decided to jump off her left foot in these championships and it looks like she still hasn't adjusted well to it.
