Bergqvist fears challenge

Swedish gold-medal hope Kajsa Bergqvist is anticipating a real challenge in the Women’s High Jump final on Friday evening. After Stefan Holm failed to take gold in the men’s event, all eyes are on her to bring Sweden their second gold of the championships

Bergqvist and compatriot Emma Green both cleared 1.92 metres for automatic qualification into Friday's final, along with Olympic champion Yelena Slesarenko of Russia and rising Croatian star Blanka Vlasic.
"It felt good and everything went as planned," world champion Bergqvist said after qualification.

"The final will be tough, I think it might be decided around 2.05."
The men's Decathlon also comes to a conclusion on Friday evening. After the morning session, with three events to go, World Record holder Roman Sebrle of Czech Republic leads with 6137 points from Russians Aleksandr Pogorelov (5983), Aleksey Drozdov (5959) and Aleksey Sysoyev (5947).

The afternoon Pole Vault leg of the competition is delayed due to heavy rain and thunderstorms in Gothenburg.
Other finals on Friday include the women's 200m and men's 3000m steeplechase, with the men's Hammer the main field event.
