Sweden's Olympic Triple Jump Champion Christian Olsson delighted the home crowd to retain his European title in Gothenburg on Saturday. Great Britain's Nathan Douglas finally found form at the right time to take silver with Marian Oprea of Romania bronze.

"It's been a long road," an emotional Olsson said before completing a lap of honour draped in the Swedish flag.
Nathan Douglas of Great Britain won an impressive silver, finally living up to his early promise with a senior title after his final jump of 17.21, having jumped 17.12 previously.
Romanian Marian Oprea took bronze with his final round jump of 17.18.
"It has been 21 months of up and down, and here I stand again as the number one," said Olsson, who only returned to competition in June after recovering from a severe foot injury that required four operations.
ISSY DOES IT AGAIN
Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva completed her set of pole vault titles by winning gold at the European championships on Saturday with a 4.80m jump in terrible conditions.
Her attempt at the world record of 5.02 failed in heavy rain and swirling wind.
She now holds the Olympic, World and European titles.
"It was very difficult to jump in the rain and the long waits in bad weather between the jumps were not fun," she said.

"I think in better conditions there would have been a world record because I felt in great shape."
Poland's Monika Pyrek won the silver medal with Russian Tatyana Polnova settling for the bronze on count back. Both cleared 4.65 metres.
Isinbayeva said she had come a long way since winning silver at the previous European championships four years ago in Munich.
"The silver was a great success for me back then," she said. "Here, anything other than gold would have been a tragedy."
