Tyson Gay expresses his delight at winning a sprint double, but is at pains to focus on the 4x100m relay coming up:
"It feels so great. But I am still tired. Maurice Greene is one of my idols and I am proud to do the double like him. Usain Bolt came out so fast and I had to work hard to catch him. I should be thankful to him to make this such a fast race."
"I have two golds and I want the third in relay. I beat the meet record of Michael Johnson and that is great feeling because he is also one of my idols. I believe it is possible to beat his world record, but I have to build up more strength."
Irving Saladino after his stunning last-gasp win over Andrew Howe in the long jump:
"I was sure to win the gold medal until Andrew Howe did his last jump. Then, my coach advised me to go back one step in my run-up. Before my last jump I told myself 'You are the best in the world, so go for the gold medal. You have to outdo yourself in this jump for the gold.' And this is what I did - I gave my best, I came out very strong and I got it."
Betty Heidler after her narrow Hammer win over Ypsi Moreno:
"I was afraid of losing the gold medal. I was really trembling. After Yipsi's last throw I thought for a tiny moment I was only second. I knew there would a lot of suspense but it feels strange to win."
Jana Rawlinson, who won the 400m hurdles title back of Yuliya Pechenkina after getting married, changing her name and giving birth:
"Tonight's victory is sensational. It has only been eight months since the birth of my son. I've only been in training three or four months. It's been a rocky road... but if we can climb this mountain, this early, then anything is possible."

Mo Farah after making the 5,000m final with the sixth fastest time overall:
"It felt good and I'm glad to get the heat out of the way. I just wanted to race after watching everyone else and having been out in the preparation camp. After the first heat my coach told me I needed to run quicker than 13 minutes 47 so I just ran what I had to do. I wasn't holding back much but I was relaxing. I chose to hold back a bit and not go flat out. I'm happy and look forward to the final.'"
Tasha Danvers-Smith after bravely finishing last in a world class 400m hurdles final:
"I went for it, but nobody likes to finish last. I ran 54.9 and I can't be upset about that, even if that had been in the semi-final it would have been the fastest time I have done all year, so to put together three good runs in four days makes me happy because I have been through a lot over the last few months."
Michael Rimmer after easing past the heats of the 800m:
"I think I have got some left in the tank. I am definitely in PB shape and I think it is going to need a PB to get through. I am going to be running very hard and at 650m I am going to be hanging on. I'll give it my best and see what happens.'"
Andy Turner after failing to make the final of the 110m hurdles:
"I ran 13.38 and I didn't make it [Turner ran 13.27 in the previous round]. Some of the guys who got in I beat this season and I'm really disappointed. I think it's going to be a sleepless night."
