Olympic 3,000m steeplechase champion and world record holder Ruth Jebet has tested positive for a banned substance, according to reports in The Guardian.
The story reports that Jebet, born in Kenya but who represents Bahrain, has tested positive for EPO.
The 21-year-old won gold at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and broke the world record as a teenager.
Marc Corstjens, Jebet's agent, said: Honestly I am surprised and shocked. I am absolutely not aware of anything. I tried to reach Ruth but her phone is not answering. I have absolutely no official information.”
The Athletics Integrity Unit made no confirmation on the results of any test.
Jebet represents Bahrain as the country offered her a full scholarship to study an animal health degree.
