Former world 100 metres champion Torri Edwards returned to action after a doping ban with fourth in the 60 metres at an indoor meeting in Birmingham, England on Saturday. She has come back 15 months into a two year ban that was downgraded by the IAAF.
American Edwards had served 15 months of a two-year suspension for a positive test for the banned stimulant nikethamide.
The 29-year-old was reinstated last November by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) downgraded the drug.
Edwards came through strongly in the latter part of the race to record the same time of 7.21 seconds as third-placed Ukrainian Zhanna Block.
France's world bronze medallist Christine Arron won the race in 7.16.
Edwards inherited the 2003 world title after compatriot Kelli White was suspended for two years after admitting to taking a cocktail of drugs.
Throughout the hearing process on her positive test, Edwards contended she was given glucose tablets before an April 2004 meeting in Martinique by her physical therapist, who did not know they contained the banned stimulant.
