Durable and consistent, Pierre has not missed a game in over four years and has a sparkling .303 career batting average over more than six seasons.
The 29-year-old left-handed batter is also one of baseball's slickest thieves, averaging 53 stolen bases a year.
"I'm just happy to be part of a storied franchise" said Pierre during a teleconference. "Hopefully, I can be another piece of the puzzle and help the team win a World Series."
Trachsel joins Orioles
Last year with the Chicago Cubs, Pierre stole 58 bases and led the National League in hits (204), singles (156) and at-bats (699).
Pierre spent the first three years of his career with the Colorado Rockies before moving to Florida and helping the Marlins win the 2003 World Series.
