Deron Williams had 29 points and 11 assists for the Northwest Division-leading Jazz, who won for the 21st time in 24 home games.
Williams made 11 of 13 shots for the game, hitting three of the Jazz's team record 14 three-pointers.
"He played extremely well," Hornets coach Byron Scott said. "We just didn't do a very good job of guarding him. He was in his comfort zone."
Carlos Boozer added 19 points and 17 rebounds and Kyle Korver connected on six three-pointers to score 20 points for the Jazz, who won their 11th consecutive home game.
"When they shoot the ball like that it's going to be hard to beat them, but I don't think we gave them much of a resistance either," Scott said.
The loss was the third in a row for the Hornets, who dropped into a tie with the Dallas Mavericks for the Southwest Division lead.
Jannero Pargo led New Orleans to 24 points. Hornets standout Chris Paul was held to six points and six assists.
"I think they did a good job of closing out the lane. I usually get to the foul line every now and then," Paul said. "We just couldn't get into a rhythm, and they got us out of what we like to do."
Tracy McGrady scored 26 points when the Houston Rockets won their eighth consecutive road game, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 92-86. Yao Ming added 16 points. Al Jefferson had 33 points and 16 rebounds for Minnesota.
Josh Howard's 28 points sparked the Dallas Mavericks to a 107-98 road win over the Orlando Magic, who lost their fourth consecutive game despite 13 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds by Hedo Turkoglu.
The Toronto Raptors used 24 points from Chris Bosh and 22 from Andrea Bargnani to hand the Miami Heat their worst loss of the season, a 114-82 setback in Miami.
Allen Iverson's jumper with less than a second to play in overtime led the Denver Nuggets to a 105-103 road win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Iverson finished with 25 points and team mate Carmelo Anthony had 28 points and 15 rebounds.
Josh Childress scored 21 points and Josh Smith had 19 points, nine assists and nine blocked shots when the Atlanta Hawks overtook the Philadelphia 76ers for a 96-91 home win after trailing by 20 points in the first quarter.
Lenadro Barbosa scored 30 points and Raja Bell and Amare Stoudemire each had 24 and the Phoenix Suns used 16 three-pointers, seven of them by Bell, in a 118-104 home win over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Corey Maggette came back from a bout of flu to score 19 points when the Los Angeles Clippers snapped a nine-game road losing streak with a 103-94 victory over the New York Knicks, who had their sixth successive loss.
