According to a report, Team USA's 12-man roster for the men's basketball tournament at this summer's Paris Olympics is almost full. The four-time back-to-back defending champions are the heavy favourites to land gold in the French capital, with the basketball action set to take place between July 27 and August 10. Among those expected to be picked for the US side are LeBron James and Steph Curry.

Reports suggest that USA’s men's basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer is starting to take shape.
According to The Athletic, a core of seven NBA superstars has emerged, which includes the likes of Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, both of whom were part of the American team that stormed to gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Also among the names mentioned are fellow Olympic gold medallists LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum, while Steph Curry and Joel Embiid are expected to be selected.
Should the report prove accurate, that leaves five spots available on the 12-man roster, another two of which could well be filled by Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards and Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton.
It’s believed that the confirmed line-up will be announced towards the end of April or into May.
Team USA have claimed men’s basketball gold in the last four Olympics stretching back to 2008 in Beijing, a team that included James.
The 39-year-old featured again for his country in the London Games in 2012 but didn’t play a part in the 2016 and 2021 events. He has, however, publicly expressed his desire to suit up for America as he bids for a third gold medal in the French capital.
Durant has also stated his commitment to the US cause to play in a fourth successive Olympics.
If selected, Embiid and Curry will be making their Olympic debuts, although the former is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear earlier this month, meaning he is in a race against time to return to full fitness.
