It was Linda Tjoerhom of Norway, though who stole the show as she thrilled home fans with a cool last lap to take the win and jump up the Mass Start standings to third place ahead of Uschi Disl.
Tjoerhom held her nerve on the last visit to the shooting range clearing all five targets when the race leaders - Ann Carin Olofsson and Kati Wilhelm - cracked and both missed one.
Tjoerhom put in a powerful display of skiing on the last lap to keep the lead - despite a determined Sandrine Bailly steadily reducing the gap - to claim the win.
Bailly - who missed three targets in total - took advantage of the misfortunes of Olofsson and Wilhelm on the last shoot - to ski to second place 12.3 seconds off the pace.
Olga Nazarova of Belarus sharp-shooted her way into third place - she missed only one out of 20 targets - and crossed the line 14.4 seconds back.
