Wierer came into the Mass Start in Holmenkollen in a fantastic position after compatriot Lisa Vittozzi imploded during the Sprint on Thursday.
All she had to do was finish in the top six to secure the title, and that was providing Vittozzi won.
Wierer started brilliantly, finishing her first shooting run perfectly, just a second behind leader Hanna Oeberg, whilst Vittozzi missed three times.

Wierer then missed three times in a nervy second shoot but the damage had already been done for her rivals with the retiring Anastasiya Kuzmina also missing early.
All Wierer had to do was finish relatively high and she would be champion, something she did with ease.
It is her first Overall World Cup Crystal Globe, and she is the first Italian to ever do so.
