Anastasiya Kuzmina is celebrating her very first Biathlon World Cup victory in Ruhpolding after dominating proceedings in Bavaria.
The 34-year-old Slovakian, who had never even made the Ruhpolding podium before Thursday's sprint event, tore into the lead from the very first split time and roared to victory from then on.
In the end, Kuzmina racked up a time of 19:15.1, a full 11.5 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor – Italy's Lisa Vittozzi (19:26.6) – and she also hit all ten targets to record a clean shooting round
Sweden's Hannah Oeberg completed the rostrum in 19:44.2.
Kuzmina's 15th career World Cup triumph leaves her fourth in the overall World Cup standings with 387 points, with Italian Dorothea Wierer (476), who was sixth in Ruhpolding, leading the way.
