Dorothea Wierer made it two wins from two events in Oestersund in the mass start as Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen earned his first biathlon World Cup win of the season.

The Italian took advantage of a miss from Julia Simon on her final shot to take victory in the women's 12.5km mass start, adding to the individual win she took on Thursday.

The victory puts Wierer, who shot clear, up to second in the overall World Cup standings, although Simon's third place took her closer to the crystal globe as she leads by 144 points before the final three events in Oslo.

Joining the pair on the podium was French youngster Lou Jeanmonnot, who took the silver, her second podium of the season.

In the men's event, Christiansen led home a Norwegian one-two, making the most of being the only biathlete to shoot clear as he finished 9.1 seconds clear of compatriot Johannes Dale.

Completing the top three was 21-year-old Frenchman Eric Perrot, who came home just 3.2 seconds behind Dale for the first World Cup podium of his career.

Christiansen's win puts him top of the standings in the mass start with one race to go, with the overall title already clinched by Johannes Thingnes Boe, despite his absence in Sweden.
