Wierer wins maiden World Championship gold
Italian Dorothea Wierer won her maiden biathlon World Championship gold as she claimed victory in the women's 12.5km mass start in Oestersund.
She took home her third medal of the championships after securing a silver and a bronze in the mixed relays earlier in the competition.
The Pyeongchang 2018 bronze-medallist crossed the line in 37:26.4 in Sweden to secure the top spot on the podium.
Wierer finished 4.9 seconds ahead of Russia's Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht while Germany's Denise Herrmann took home the bronze a further 10.5 seconds back.
Home favourite Hanna Oeberg was fourth as she just missed out on a medal in front of the Swedish fans.
