Hughie Fury will bid to bounce back from his world title heartache and follow in cousin Tyson’s footsteps by winning the British heavyweight title at Bolton’s Macron Stadium on May 12.
Fury suffered the first defeat of his 21-fight professional career last September when he dropped a majority points decision to WBO champion Joseph Parker.
The 23-year-old will attempt to draw a line under the loss when he faces British titlist Sam Sexton, who clinched his 24th win from 27 fights in the paid ranks by outpointing Gary Cornish for the vacant strap last October.
Fury said: “I’m going to do what I always do and that’s perform to my best.
“I’m very excited to be back and facing Sexton for the British title, and believe me I’m on a mission to claim back what should have been rightfully mine, the world title. I am the uncrowned world champion and come May 12 you will see why that is.”
Tyson Fury won the British crown by defeating Dereck Chisora in July 2011 before relinquishing the belt without making a defence.
