Tapia overdoses, in hospital
Future boxing Hall of Famer Johnny Tapia is in hospital Monday afternoon after been found earlier suffering from a reported drugs overdose.
Police authorities in Tapia"s hometown of Albuquerque say the former multi-weight champion was discovered at the County Inn Suites on the Pan American Highway at about 4:30 am.
Tapia - who has won world titles from super-flyweight to featherweight - has a history of drug abuse. The popular 40-year-old has been declared clinically dead at least four times after overdoses over the last two decade of his "Vidi Loca" (crazy life).
The five time champion last fought a month ago, beating one Evaristo Primero in what could have been his retirement fight.
