BSB: Leon Haslam and Josh Brookes collide at finish as Kawasaki rider takes double

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider extended his championship lead and was aided by a crash between Glenn Irwin and Brad Ray who were challenging in third and fourth on lap 10.

Haslam had to hold off a determined Brookes in a dramatic final lap as the pair came together just yards from the finish, which allowed Jake Dixon to sneak into second.

It means the 35-year-old now has a 64-point lead over Brad Ray at the top of the rider standings.

Leon Haslam clinched his first ever victory at Snetterton in an action-packed Race 1.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider benefited from Brad Ray (Buildbase Suzuki) – who started on pole and led until lap 10 – crashing out and made his decisive move to pass Glenn Irwin (BeWiser Ducati) two laps from the end.

Irwin’s younger brother, Andy, who was riding in his first BSB race in place of the injured champion Shakey Byrne, caused a crash on the first lap that led to a safety car being deployed before the racing stepped up another gear in the final few laps.

First, Luke Mossey, Haslam's team-mate, seemed to lose his brakes and crashed out, before Jake Dixon and Josh Brookes swapped passes, with the former finally taking third, behind Haslam and Irwin.
