Norwegian sprint queen Maiken Caspersen Falla topped the podium in the ladies cross-country final on Saturday, displaying top form after a difficult season thus far.
Falla's best result had been a fifth place up until the race in Lahti but she slipped past USA's Sophie Caldwell on the last bend before the run, sprinting to the line for the win.
On home turf, Sweden's Maja Dahlqvist took third ahead of Germany's Sandra Ringwald.
"It meant so much,"commented Falla after her win. "My best position so far is fifth place this season, I have smoked in the quarter-finals, and the World Cup sprint is in skating.
"Now I'm really happy, and I didn't expect to win at all!"
