Krista Parmakoski's first Cross-Country World Cup triumph of 2017-18 kept her firmly in the hunt for a medal come the end of the season.
The Finnish skier powered home in 27:08.7 in Planica to take the 10km Classic victory ahead of Swede Charlotte Kalla, who had to settle for silver after finishing 3.6 seconds adrift in a sprint for the line with Parmakoski.
Overall World Cup leader Heidi Weng completed the podium positions in Slovenia after fending off the efforts of Teresa Stadlober to finish in 27:42.2.
Prior to today's action, 27-year-old Parmakoski had placed on the podium four times, with two silvers and two bronzes.
But she found an extra gear to go one further this time around and claimed the 100 points for victory, leaving her fourth overall on 837.
This triumph slashed the gap between her and third-place American Jessica Diggins, who could only manage tenth on the day, to just 15 points.
Norwegian Weng still enjoys a decent overall lead with 1254 points, with compatriot Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg second, having amassed 1087.
