Fourth Toblach victory sees Marit Bjoergen make history

Marit Bjoergen's cross-country skiing accomplishments know no bounds after securing another piece of personal history in Toblach.

The Norwegian skied to a tight victory in the women's 10km pursuit classic in Italy, leading out a dominant European race with each of the other top five racers being her compatriots.

Not only that, but a win ensured Toblach became the fourth venue in which she has secured four career wins.

Stopping the clock in a time of 25:19.3, Bjoergen's victory was a close-run thing with Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg just 0.3 seconds off the pace.

She was to take silver however, having been fifth at the 6.4km mark, while the bronze went to Heidi Weng, also of Norway.

It was in the middle stage of the race when Bjoergen made her mark, moving from fifth after 2.1km to first four kilometres later.

She had been joined by Weng and Ragnhild Haga, while Sweden's Charlotte Kalla had boasted the early lead before falling away, eventually finishing sixth.

Kalla had won the 10km freestyle on Saturday, with her World Cup lead now cut after missing out on the podium spots.

She still leads the overall standings however, on a total of 610 points, with Oestberg's second place helping her leapfrog Weng into second place.
