The Swiss quartet of skip Peter de Cruz, vice-skip Benoit Schwarz, third Claudio Paetz, lead Valentin Tanner and alternate Dominik Maerki downed Italy 6-5 in a final that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.
But there was less good news for the Swiss women's rink, who slipped to a 7-6 defeat against Italy in the bronze medal match as skip Diana Gaspari claimed her first medal in 11 years.
Gaspari was joined by vice-skip Veronica Zappone, second Chiara Oliveiri, lead Angela Romei and alternate Stefania Constantini.
Now all attentions turn to Saturday and the men's and women's finals that see Sweden take on Scotland in both clashes.
