Canada secure World Mixed Curling Championships semi-final spot

Canadian skip Trevor Bonot believes his rink are in their best form yet as they secured a place in the World Mixed Curling Championships semi-finals with a dominant victory over Russia.

The Canadians started as they meant to go on, scoring three points in the second end and followed that up with two points in each of the next two ends.
There was little Russia could do to get back into the match and, though they scored one point in the fifth end, Canada stormed on to secure a 9-1 win.
"Honestly we aren't usually overly aggressive but we are comfortable that way and we know we can make the shots," said Bonot.
"So we just went with it. We love to hit too, so once we got that nice comfortable lead, they're such a great team, we didn't want to take anything for granted.
"So we wanted as few rocks out there as possible. That was our best game of the week.
We really liked the ice tonight and we finally got the pep in our step that we've been waiting to get.
Turkey could not even manage one consolation point against a Norwegian side flying high after claiming a hard-fought victory over England earlier in the day.
It was a slow start, but Norway got on the board in the fifth end with three points and added three more in the seventh end to win 6-0 and set up a date with Canada on Saturday.
The other semi-final will feature the Czech Republic and Scotland after they defeated Estonia and Sweden respectively.
After the Czech Republic took an early lead, Estonia pulled back and it was all square at 3-3 in the fifth end.
The match went to an extra end, where the Czech side immediately found their form again, scoring three points to ease to a 7-4 victory.
Scotland's path to the final was not quite so complicated, they score two points in the first, third and seventh ends to finish the match with seven points to Sweden's four.
