With just two of eight men’s teams set to secure their place in South Korea next year, China are the only team to have won both of their matches so far.
The event, being held in Pilsen, Czech Republic, sees those who have not already secured their Olympic spot, via the world or continental championships, take another shot at making the Games.
China lead the standings after two sessions following their comfortable 10-5 victory over Italy, with six other nations all with one win and one loss to date, while the Netherlands languish at the foot of the table with two defeats from two.
They were beaten 4-3 by Germany as their opponents picked up the vital stone in the final end, while Denmark beat the Czech Republic 10-4 on home ice.
The other result of the session saw Finland beat Russia 9-6, leaving Russia joint second in the standings – along with five other teams.
