Scotland find themselves in must-win territory at the 2018 European Curling Championships after Eve Muirhead's rink slipped to an 8-7 defeat to Russia in Tallinn.
With four victories and four defeats in the round-robin stage, the defending champions must now beat Switzerland in their final game, while hoping that Germany slip up against Sweden in order to reach the semi-finals.
That will not be easy, with the Swiss having won eight from eight so far and already qualified for the final four.
There will be frustration for Muirhead and her rink after losing to the Russians, who booked their own place in the semi-finals with this win.
Russia made the quicker start, and it was not until the seventh end that the Scots led for the first time.
In a tight battle, they took a 7-6 lead into the final end, but a mistake by Muirhead on her last stone ended Scottish hopes as the Russians took the win.
As a result, Muirhead and her team must beat Switzerland, as they did at the semi-final stage a year ago, to have any chance of making the semi-finals.
