Day two of Curling World Cup underway

The Swiss emerged as early front-runners in Group A as they claimed their second successive win with an 8-4 victory over Korea to go top of the group.

Olympic silver medallists Jenny Perret and Martin Rios looked comfortable following their shoot-out victory over Canada yesterday who they now sit one point above in the table.

Canada came through their own match against Sweden with Kalynn Park and John Morris turning the tie around in the penultimate end.

"It's awesome learning from John and seeing how he plays out there because we've both been playing mixed doubles for a long time", said Park.

Meanwhile Norway left it even later in their match against Russia. With the scores tied at 6-6 coming into the final end, Magnus Nedregotten and Kristin Skaslien found three stones to wrap up the points.

In the other Group B game, China put their first points on the board by beating the United States. Leading 5-4 ahead of the final end, Tabitha Peterson's last stone was too heavy, allowing China to roll up and claim the two they needed to secure a 6-5 win.

That leaves all the teams in Group B level on three points with all teams having played two won one and lost one.

Dexin Ba, on China's mixed doubles win over United States: “Right now I feel great. It was a big game. We had a big steal of one and a comeback. This is my first time playing in the World Cup and I am really enjoying it."

Meanwhile Korea got off the mark in the women's teams with victory over Canada. Trailing 6-4 in the final end, Canada certainly did not need Selena Njegovan to miss with an attempted peel as she only succeeded in taking one of their own guards.

A little later, with two Canadian stones in the house, Minji Kim removed them both with one perfect take-out to seal the win. Korea move on to three points, level with Canada and United States, who have played only once.
