Sweden have now won all five of their round-robin encounters, while three wins and three losses leaves GB’s chances of reaching the semis hangs in the balance.
GB founds themselves 3-0 down after three ends, but rallied to tie up at 3-3 at the halfway stage.
Sweden – silver medallists four years ago and champions in 2010 and 2006 – then moved back ahead when scoring two stones in the ninth end.
However, Eve Muirhead and her GB side valiantly fought back to take the tie to an extra end.
Sweden had the hammer going into the decider, and scored a final two to secure the win.
