Four years ago in Sochi, Team Murdoch took silver for Britain, with the women's rink led by Eve Muirhead winning bronze.
Team Smith have pedigree of their own having become the first ever British men's rink to reach a Grand Slam final in 2016, losing to Team Edin of Sweden in Cranbrook.
They exacted their revenge against the team ranked number one in the world with a victory in the European Masters in St Gallen in April, cementing their position as the leading men's team in Britain.
Three medals at the world juniors marked Team Smith out as a rink with real potential and the skip, along with Thomas Muirhead, younger brother of women's skip Eve, Kyle Waddell, Cammy Smith, younger brother of Kyle, and alternate Glen Muirhead, another from the famous curling family, have hopes of a medal in PyeongChang.
Smith's father, David, was a curling world champion in 1991. Kyle Smith said in October about the challenge of the Olympics:
It has been our career goal and has driven us in everything we have done in order to achieve this and we will work even harder now to achieve our next goal of making sure we get our preparations right for our first Olympics. We are a great unit and with the experience and support of our coach Viktor (Kjell) we are making our dream a reality.
