Team GB’s women curlers advanced to the semi-finals after edging out reigning champions Canada 6-5 in their final round-robin encounter.
A tense affair saw Eve Muirhead’s side trail 5-4 going into the final end, but GB scored two stones to qualify for the semis and knock Canada out of the completion.
GB knew victory would confirm a semi-final spot, but faced an uphill task when trailing 3-1 after three ends.
The scores were then tied at 4-4 after eight ends, and while Canada secured one point in the ninth, GB took full advantage of having the hammer in the final end.
And while Canada will be left wondering how their Olympic defence fell apart in the round robin, GB can now look forward to their semi-final.
South Korea and Sweden have also qualified, while one of Japan or the United States will complete the line-up.
