Earlier in the day, Scotland’s skip Bruce Mouat’s rink thrashed Germany 9-2 and the 9-5 win over the Italians meant they joined Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Japan and USA in the play-offs.
The win sent them through in sixth place with a record of eight wins and four draws. They face hosts Canada on Saturday for a semi-final spot.
"We were backs against the wall, but that was really good." Mouat said.
"We beat Canada in the round-robin and I don't see why we can't do it again."
