The Belgian duo of Moreno de Pauw and Kenny de Ketele will look to win their second six day event in a row this week after a last-gasp win in London Six Day. The defending champions denied home favourites Mark Cavendish and Sir Bradley Wiggins the win with a victory on points in the Madison. Wiggins will not feature in Amsterdam after announcing that Ghent Six Day would be his final event before retiring.
Despite Cavendish and Wiggins missing out there were British successes in London, with Katie Archibald winning the women’s omnium crown and Chris Latham and Andy Tennant taking the team elimination race, while Marc Hester won the Longest Lap race. Amsterdam will be another opportunity for these riders to shine should they choose to compete.
