Geraint Thomas stays in yellow as Pello Bilbao wins Stage 6

Team Sky's Geraint Thomas stayed in yellow at the Criterium du Dauphine as Pello Bilbao of Astana won Stage 6.

Bilbao, who finished sixth in the Giro d'Italia, attacked with just under 10km to go and took the lead of the race.
He was eventually caught up by the group including Thomas, which had been pushed to attack by Adam Yates and Romain Bardet.

The GC contenders were at the mercy of Thomas, who knew that they would have to attack and win the race to stand any chance of catching him.
He stayed with them and at the end attacked himself to put distance to the other contenders.

He finished second behind Bilbao with Dan Martin in third.
Yates has moved up into second but he still trails Thomas but 1:29 so as long as Team Sky defend well on Sunday he will take the victory, as news comes that he will be the team's co-leader for the Tour de France with Chris Froome.
