After winning the scratch race and impressing in the tempo, the 35-year-old was pipped in the elimination race by Archibald to leave the event delicately poised heading into the points race.
But Wild built on her two-point lead as she repeatedly edged the mini-duel with her chief rival in the intermediate sprints.
She finished with 156 points, with Archibald (144) and Italy’s Letizia Paternoster (111) completing the podium.
It was Archibald's third medal of the championships after winning team pursuit gold and individual pursuit silver.
Earlier, a last-gasp burst from Ethan Hayter and Ollie Wood landed Britain an unlikely bronze in the madison.
The duo took the final two sprints to earn 15 points and catapult themselves onto the podium with 38 points.

It was also 19-year-old Hayter’s third medal in Glasgow after securing omnium gold and team pursuit bronze.
