Shortly after the finish of Paris-Tours, police detained four Lampre riders who had competed in the Tour de France alongside Raimondas Rumsas. His wife Edita has been in jail since July 28, when French customs police discovered a slew of banned substances in the trunk of her car.

According to Reuters, the detained are Ludo Dierckxsens, Rubens Bertogliati, Marco Serpellini, and Alessandro Cortinovis. The other Lampre riders present had not taken part in this year's Tour de France and were let go.
In a scene reminiscent of the 1998 Tour de France Festina doping scandal, cameras filmed while police blocked the street where riders were taking their post-race showers. They were then presented with arrest warrants and taken for a trip to Lyon the same evening.
Raimondas Rumsas had initially signalled his intention to return to France to co-operate with the investigation, but quickly changed his mind. The Lithuanian, suspended by his team and stripped of his third place in the Tour de France, has since answered questions via diplomatic pouch from Italy. His wife, Edita, a mother of three, has since had several bail requests denied.
