Thibaut Pinot abandons Tour de France

FDJ rider Thibaut Pinot has abandoned the Tour de France, his team have announced.

Pinot, third overall in the 2014 Tour and winner of the prestigious Alpe d'Huez stage last year, has withdrawn from the race with bronchitis, reports L’Equipe.

Pinot had been in possession of the King of the Mountains jersey at the start of yesterday’s stage but relinquished that to stage winner Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal).
